Hello friends! I’m not sure if you knew this, but there are plenty of “focus” settings on iPhones that can cause you to miss important calls or texts from people. And this topic can get a little complicated… so I am going to focus on a simple fact: You can choose any contact in your contact list to have the ability to call you or text you at any time, regardless of any do not disturb or focus settings you may have enabled on your iPhone. (If you are an Android user, there is probably a similar functionality, but I am not going to go into that, so see you next week. :)

Why Emergency Bypass?

If you have someone in your life… children, parents, really close friends… that you want to be able to call you at any time, all you have to do is enable Emergency Bypass in their contact record on your phone to make sure they can get to you. And you can choose to allow phone calls only, text messages only, or both depending on the settings you choose.

The reason this matters is that I had a focus set up for late at night to early in the morning that was basically a Do Not Disturb. But I realized recently that I need my family and friends to be able to call me in an emergency. If you watch my video this week, I will show you exactly how to enable Emergency Bypass on a contact in your iPhone contacts.

And yes, if you want to get deeper into technical focus conversations, you could set up your Sleep Focus and allow certain contacts to notify you as well… but for my wife, my parents, etc. I turned on Emergency Bypass to make SURE they can always get to me.

I hope you find this one helpful! Let me know in the comments… I appreciate your feedback!
