Gig Economy

More and more people are getting into the “Gig Economy”. If you aren’t familiar with the term, it means a labor market characterized by the prevalence of short-term contracts or freelance work as opposed to permanent jobs. In other words, doing 1099 work for companies based on projects instead of working full time for a company.

I’ve been doing “Gig Economy” work since 2009 when Blue Gurus was born. And I learned some great lessons over the first three years as I went from charging hourly to charging by the project. I hope you take 5 minutes to watch the video and learn why hourly isn’t always the right answer for contract work. Especially if the value you are bringing far outweighs the amount of time it takes to get things done.

Thanks for watching… and I hope you are having a great week!

  1. This was exactly the message I needed to hear today as I rebid a project for a great client. Because I love what I do, it is sometimes challenging to ask remember that I am bringing great value to the organization that has engaged me because, like you point out, nobody in the organization can do what I do!

    Thank you, Jason!!

    1. Thank you for your comment Elizabeth! I am so glad that my video was helpful in your decision on what is reasonable to charge your client… for the GOOD WORK you are doing for them. Thanks for taking the time and being part of my circle. :)
