Marketing is fuzzy. How do you know when it is working?

Hello friends! My video this week was inspired by a recent conversation that I had with a friend of mine, Kerry George. We were talking about how long I have been helping companies tell their stories… it’s been 14 years, can you believe that? Anyway, I mentioned that in those early years, the common question I would get was, “How do I know if this whole storytelling and LinkedIn thing is making a difference for me personally or my business?”

I love getting that question, because the answer is fairly simple. When people are talking to you in person, and reacting online to stories you are putting out there, IT IS WORKING. Why? Because one of the most important goals of marketing is to stay top of mind with your customers and prospects. And if people are talking about the content you are putting out, or reacting to it, then for that moment, you were definitely top of mind.

So sit back and watch this 5 minute video (okay, it is almost 6, but close enough) where I explain a little more about this idea. And the question I hope you ask yourself is this: when was the last time someone commented to you in person or online about the stories you are putting out there? And… are you putting your stories out there?
