LinkedIn released another new feature recently called Cover Stories. Basically, it’s a 30 second video clip that you can record on your smartphone as part of your LinkedIn profile. It’s a great way to welcome someone to your profile… and you are going to start seeing a lot more of this in the weeks and months to come.
In my video, I share with you exactly how to do this on the LinkedIn app on your smartphone… I captured my screen as I talk through what you need to do. And there are helpful arrows and callouts so there won’t be any confusion.
Once you record a Cover Story, LinkedIn will play the first 3 seconds of that video OVER your profile photo. This draws the visitor’s eye to your photo and they will likely click to see more… especially as people start to understand what this new feature is all about.
I know a lot of people are nervous in front of the camera… but I recommend you practice a couple of times and do a video intro for your LinkedIn profile. It will definitely set you apart from the rest and give people a sense of who you are much more quickly than when they have to read your About section (if you even have one.)
