Hello friends! Today is December 3rd. It’s the week after Thanksgiving and the day before my birthday. It’s cold outside. Most of the houses in my neighborhood have lights up and I’m starting to wrap presents. It’s definitely time for the holidays!
On the business side, I think it’s a great tradition to create holiday cards for your clients and we make sure to do that every year. As part of the creation process, we take new headshot photos to use in our card.
Recently, we were at Helpers, Inc. with our friends Stacy Jones and Anne Cousin working on their new website together. (It’s live now, you can see the Helpers, Inc. website here.) Their office is a beautifully renovated farmhouse and we thought it was a great location for us to take some updated photos.
Double Whammy! Photos for the holiday card and for our LinkedIn profiles!
Aside: If you’ve been to one of our LinkedIn training sessions, you’ve heard us mention that outdoor pictures might not be the best choice because the background can be distracting. That said, if the background is clean (like a wall), then taking pictures outside for your LinkedIn profile photo is great because of the natural light.
I updated my LinkedIn profile picture about a week ago and noticed quite a few people checking out my profile that I hadn’t talked to in awhile. Changing your profile picture once or twice a year is a good way to stay in front of your connections. They might see that you updated your photo via their LinkedIn home page feed or your new pictures might end up in an email summary that LinkedIn automatically sends every so often.
Let me know what you think of the double whammy. And there’s still time for you to get it all done in 2014 if you haven’t already!
