2020 Book Drive for Kansas Children’s Service League

Hello there! If you’ve been following my stories for a while, you’ll know that I have a big heart for not-for-profit organizations in Kansas City. And like you, I get a LOT of requests to sponsor/support these organizations. Sometimes I will simply make a donation. Other times, I may ask you to join me in donating a crapload of toilet paper to Hope House.

Something special happens when you ask your friends to join you in making a difference. And that’s what I’m doing this week… I am leading a book drive for kids receiving services from Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL), and I hope you will join me to help out! They prefer new books, but used books in good condition would be great also.

What’s the Goal? FIVE HUNDRED BOOKS!

Please let me know if you would be willing to donate new or used books for kids ages 1-5 years old. As children receive services from KCSL, they are sent home with their very own book. Often, this is the first book they’ve owned. You can really make an impact here!

I can meet you halfway for a pickup of used books, or you can have new books you buy online delivered to my house. The collection deadline is August 15th.

If you are buying NEW books, I created an Amazon.com shopping list with some ideas to start with. That list is right here.

Used Books

I’ve been putting the word out over the last week or so, and my friends Scott and Kristen decided to clean house… they have a large family and because of that, they had a lot of books for kids in the 1-5 year old range. But their kids are getting older… so they boxed up over 60 books and made the first donation to this book drive. And that became the featured image for this story. :)

New Books

I took a walk down memory lane shopping for books on Amazon.com. Here are just a couple of the books I ended up ordering… I bet you had at least one of these growing up! They cost between $5-$10 each.

I hope you will pitch in to help me with this book drive for Kansas Children’s Service League! Thanks for considering.
